Fremantle Dockers coach Justin Longmuir pleased with response from midfielders to public criticism [Video]

Justin Longmuir got the response he was looking for when he went public with stinging criticism of his midfielders this week.

And he says nothing he said in a mid-week press conference where he accused players of stuffing their stat sheet wasn’t addressed internally.

Andrew Brayshaw, Caleb Serong and Hayden Young starred — even combining for six goals — in the Dockers’ 20-point win over Gold Coast at Optus Stadium on Sunday.

“Our mids really responded against a really good midfield,” Longmuir said.

“I never say anything in public that I wouldn’t say to the players face-to-face, so I thought today they came out and responded and played the way they wanted to play.”

The Dockers face Sydney at the Sydney Cricket Ground next week.

They are the league’s dominant team and have a swathe of goal-kicking midfielders, including Chad Warner, Errol Gulden and Isaac Heeney.
