GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Four easy steps can give you a giant leap in online safety.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office alerted us to this, but it’s a team effort on the local, state and federal levels.
This is Cybersecurity Awareness Month with the theme “Secure Our World.”
The federal Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is promoting four easy steps. It’s a good idea to do these now:
- Use strong passwords. Make sure they are long, random and unique.
- Turn on multi-factor authentication. If gives you extra security to confirm your identity when logging into your accounts.
- Recognize and report phishing. That’s when criminals try to get you to open harmful links, emails or attachments that request personal information or infect our devices.
- Update software. Instead of ignoring those notifications, turn on the automatic updates for your computer, phone and tablet.
