Fort Smith police warn about fake ‘serial killer’ social media posts [Video]

FORT SMITH, Ark. — The Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD) warned the public about fake “serial killer” posts circulating on Facebook. 

FSPD said they have made “numerous attempts” to report the posts to Facebook but have not been successful. Officials said this is due to “limitations in the platform’s reporting system.”

This has led to misleading or fake posts remaining active on Facebook, causing “unnecessary alarm and distress” in the community.

How can you help?

FSPD said residents can help with this issue by not sharing the post. Additionally, sharing with family and friends that this information is false will help spread the word.
