MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A bombshell Christmas Eve lawsuit filed by former Mobile Police Chief Paul Prine alleges many city leaders were in on a campaign to get rid of him.
In the 30 page suit, Prine accuses Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson, Chief of Staff James Barber, Executive Director of Public Safety Rob Lasky, five of seven members of the Mobile City Council, former U.S. Attorney Kenyen Brown and others of wrongdoing.
Prine alleges those in the suit engaged in “making willful, false, malicious, defamatory and slanderous statements” in order to “injure the plaintiff’s reputation and to deprive the plaintiff of the respect and confidence essential for him to have future employment equivalent to the job as chief.”
Prine was fired in April after a very public back and forth between him and city leaders. Prine also alleges a special report by Kenyen Brown was biased and out to damage Prine’s character and reputation.
