Former Louisiana State University football staff member killed in crash in Hammond [Video]

A former Louisiana State University staffer was killed in a secondary crash in Hammond Friday night. The Louisiana State Police says that Charles Baglio Jr., 81, of Independence, was killed in the crash that happened on U.S. Highway 51 at Kohnke Hill Road in Tangipahoa Parish.A preliminary investigation revealed that two crashes happened minutes apart in the same area of Highway 51 at Kohnke Hill Road. The first crash involved a 2025 Nissan Altima driven by Baglio, who was driving eastbound while a 2016 Nissan Altima was traveling southbound. State police say Baglio’s car entered the intersection in the pathway of the other Nissan Altima and eventually hit the car. Baglio’s car partially stopped in both lanes of U.S. Highway 51, and the 2016 Nissan drove off the road and stopped in a northbound ditch.
