Florida man accused of creating thousands of AI-generated child sex abuse photos [Video]

OLDSMAR, Fla. — A 40-year-old Oldsmar man has pleaded guilty to producing, distributing and possessing thousands of child sex abuse photos and videos, according to the Department of Justice. Many of the photos were created using generative Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The DOJ said Justin Ryan Culmo possessed about 85,000 photos of child sexual abuse material, with some of them involving children as young as infants and toddlers. He also reportedly had more than 800 child sexual abuse videos and about 8,500 AI-generated photos of child sexual abuse material.

Culmo now faces multiple charges, including production, distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material. He also faces production of child sexual abuse material that is an adapted or modified depiction of a minor.
