HONOLULU (Island News) — Gov. Josh Green has ordered all flags to be flown at half staff on Friday in honor of Twinkle Borge.
The Native Hawaiian activist, affectionately known as “Mama” or “Aunty Twinkle,” passed away on Aug. 5, 2024. She led the Pu’uhonua O Wai’anae homeless encampment and is credited with turning it into a community. She lived there for 17 years and was known for her leadership and aloha.
Flags will be lowered until sunrise on Monday. Her memorial is happening this Sunday.
