Five Spokane officers injured in two separate arrests on Saturday [Video]

SPOKANE, Wash. — Five Spokane police officers sustained minor injuries while attempting to arrest suspects on Saturday.

The first incident occurred at around 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 17 at a park in the 3100 block of East 27th Avenue, Lincoln Heights, during a community event according to the Spokane Police Department. Police were called to manage a disorderly woman who was yelling profanities at children. Despite efforts to calm her, she continued her outbursts.

Officers decided to detain her for disorderly conduct. She resisted, fought with multiple officers, kicked one in the head, and scratched him. She also spat in the face of another officer. It took several officers to arrest her. The officer who was kicked was examined at a hospital for a possible head injury but was cleared to return to work.
