First 5 Fox Valley to open resource center in old Appleton Trout Museum of Art [Video]

APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) – On Thursday afternoon, Appleton city officials and community leaders held a press conference to discuss the future of the historic Trout Museum of Art building.

First 5 Fox Valley is a local non-profit that helps connect families to services that provide developmental resources to young children. On Thursday, non-profit executives shared details of their plan to turn the historic Trout building into the Fox Valley Family Resource Center.

“The Trout Museum of Art Board and First Five in conversations realized our missions really aligned,” said Barb Tengesdal, the director of First 5 Fox Valley. “We realized together that this is a good place to share and to transfer our work.”

The new resource center would include a free, year-round public play area where families can easily connect with early childhood programs while creating a sense of community and belonging.
