Fire department holds Halloween open house [Video]

CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa (KTIV) – In Correctionville, the town’s fire department held its first Halloween “open house” to celebrate the spooky season.

As a form of community outreach, the fire house was open for anyone to come by, pick up some candy, a drink, and even some chili and cinnamon rolls. Kids could also tour the fire house, and learn about fire safety.

“Traditionally, the first week in October is Fire Prevention Week, and we’re kind of incorporating that into the Halloween here. So we’re having an open house showing off some of the equipment,” said the Correctionville fire chief, Adam Petty. “It’s just a good time for the community to get together.”

The department also accepted free will donations to help fund new turnout gear for firefighters.
