Fire crews contain wildfire in Douglas County [Video]

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Wash. — Firefighters have contained a 900-acre wildfire burning near the town of Mansfield in Douglas County.

Douglas County Fire District #5 reported local crews were still actively patrolling the perimeter of the Road 11 fire overnight. A State Incident Management Team is expected to take over command of the fire on Friday.

The fire, which started on Thursday, prompted Level 2 evacuations. A map of the current evacuation areas can be found here. 

The Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office said state fire assistance was called on July 4 at around 6:30 p.m. to help local firefighters contain the fire near the town of Mansfield. 

The Douglas County Sheriff’s office reported that the fire was believed to be caused by a downed power line. The State Fire Marshal reported that the cause is still being investigated.
