Fire chief thanks CT community for support after volunteer death [Video]

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. — The chief of the Wethersfield Fire Department is extending a touching “thank you” to the town community as the department continues to navigate the loss of volunteer firefighter Rob Sharkevich Sr.

Wethersfield Fire Dept. Chief Brian J. Schroll shared a letter to the town community this week, thanking them for the “high gear” and “overwhelming” support over the past few weeks.

“I would like to thank the while Wethersfield Community for their acts of kindness, support, and for keeping the members of the Fire Department in your thoughts and prayers,” Schroll said.

Community members offered food, cookies, flowers, gift cards, painted pumpkins and pictures to the fire department, Schroll said.
