Finalist announced for University of Arizona president [Video]

TUCSON, AZ (AZFamily) — The University of Arizona has a finalist who is being considered to be its 23rd president.

The Arizona Board of Regents said on Thursday that Dr. Suresh Garimella, who is currently the president of the University of Vermont, is a candidate.

It’s unclear if he’s UofA’s top or only candidate but it is the only one that ABOR has revealed.

In a news release, the board highlighted how UVM has more than doubled its research enterprise under Garimella’s leadership.

Garimella has strengthened the unverisity’s state and community relationships and has “thoughtful financial discipline,” the board said.

The Board of Regents will interview Garimella on Friday during a special board meeting from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

After the interview, the board may have a public session, which will be available via livestream and posted on the board’s YouTube channel in the following days.
