FEMA gives residents tips to prepare for storms [Video]

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials say flooding is the most common and costly disaster event across our nation and local Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials want to make sure residents in NEPA are prepared.

Experts say you should seal your foundation and basement walls and install flood vents.

They also recommend protecting your valuable possessions and installing a flood alert system.

During severe weather, it’s also important to protect your pets.

Experts say to keep your pets indoors and prepare a safe space for them, especially if loud noises frighten them.

Officials also say to have an emergency plan in case of flooding like having a bag pre-packed with essentials you and your pet will need.
