FEMA Disaster Recovery Center opening in Cherokee, IA [Video]

CHEROKEE, Iowa (KTIV) – In the wake of last month’s flooding, FEMA has been opening disaster recovery centers all across Northwest Iowa.

Now, the newest one will be opening its doors Saturday afternoon in Cherokee; helping the residents of that county whose homes were impacted by flooding get in touch with the necessary resources to get federal funding. Cherokee County residents will have a place closer to home to get the process started to receive federal aid to recover from last month’s flooding in their communities.

The FEMA recovery center will open up in Cherokee County on July 20 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. After Saturday, it’ll be open every day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Once people walk in, they’ll be asked to present documentation like a driver’s license, social security card, and any kind of mail that shows the address of the person’s home affected by …
