AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Many in the area who were impacted by Hurricane Helene are working to determine their options for resources.
FEMA has opened its Disaster Recovery Center downtown at the Hub, where those impacted by the storm can meet one-on-one with a FEMA Representative.
“Our FEMA representative at the Hub at this particular DRC they are there to help disaster survivors recover from Helene,” said Nikki Gaskins Campbell, Media Relations Specialist. “We understand that they’re probably under a lot of stress from the disaster that happened in their state. So, we want to try to meet the disaster survivor where they are and their current situation. It is your one-stop shop.”
Despite waiting in line at the recovery center for hours, many people we spoke with had nothing but nice things to say about those who were helping them navigate their recovery.
