FBI reveals video of Bourbon Street Attack, used Meta Glasses in plot

FBI agents say Jabbar visited New Orleans at least twice prior to the attack and he used the Meta Glasses to record Bourbon Street.

NEW ORLEANS — Federal investigators have released new details about how Shamsud-Din Jabbar planned and carried out a New Year’s Day attack on Bourbon Street, revealing he used Meta Glasses to scout his targets.

At a Sunday press conference, FBI New Orleans Special Agent in Charge Lyonel Myrthil described Jabbar’s use of Meta Glasses, a device resembling ordinary eyewear that allows users to record videos, take photos, and potentially livestream events to Facebook.

According to Myrthil, Jabbar visited New Orleans on October 31 and November 10, months before the attack, to scout potential targets.

During his October visit, Jabbar used Meta Glasses to record video while riding a bicycle down Bourbon Street prior to the attack.
