Fatal collision occurs near Mile Marker 374 in Howard County [Video]

HOWARD COUNTY, Texas — On July 25, at 9:22 PM, a fatal collision occurred on US 87 near Mile Marker 374 in Howard County, according to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety. The document further outlined that the incident involved a 2015 Ram 3500 and a 2018 Jeep. 

Jason Earnest Key, 41, of Big Spring was the driver of the Ram 3500 and was not injured.

The driver of the Jeep, Jose Gonzales, 64, of Ackerley, TX, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The preliminary investigation indicated that the Jeep was parked on the shoulder of the northbound roadway and then was rear-ended by the Ram 3500. Earnest Key was arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter and is currently in custody at the Howard …
