The world is mourning the loss of yet another extraordinary talent as Dame Maggie Smith has sadly passed away at the age of 89.

After news of her death was made public in the early hours of Friday, September 27, fans came together on social media to pay tribute to the iconic actress, who is well known for her roles in Downton Abbey and the Harry Potter series, among many others.

“RIP Maggie…thank you for sharing for your talent with us,” said one fan in the comments of a post on Instagram that shared the unfortunate news. Another replied, “My heart is broken 💔 Rest Peacefully.”
