Fans not allowed at Pojoaque Valley football game over safety concerns [Video]

POJOAQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The football stands were empty Friday night in Pojoaque over a potential threat of violence. The Pojaque Valley Elks hosted the Los Alamos Hilltoppers. The interim superintendent of Pojaque Valley Schools posted that no fans would be allowed at the game due to a “perceived threat and out of an abundance of caution.”

Fans were asked to stay away from the Jacona campus where the football field is located. A viewer shared a social media post with KRQE News 13 that shows an elk in crosshairs with the words “end the elks.”

The New Mexico Activities Association confirmed Friday night that the post was the source of the concern that forced the game to be closed to the public.
