Family members are asking for help giving Richard the farewell he deserves.
NEW ORLEANS — The family of Alfred Richard, a beloved New Orleans personality and culture bearer, is seeking community support to help cover his final expenses. Richard, who passed away on December 23 at age 62, touched countless lives with his warmth, humor, and boundless energy.
Richard’s life was a celebration of the vibrant culture of New Orleans. He was known for many things including his long-time role as a film critic on the WWL Morning News, a greeter at Commander’s Palace and as a member of the 610 Stompers, where he performed as “Chocolate Thunder.” His personality was as big as the city he loved, and his contributions made him a recognizable figure in the community.
Despite his many accomplishments, Richard, like so many other culture bearers, did not have a life-insurance policy. His family has launched …
