Family, Including 3-Month-Old Baby, Rescued After Getting Stranded on Mountain [Video]

A family of three, including a 3-month-old, were rescued from a high mountain in Guadalupe Mountains National Park in Culberson County, Texas, on Tuesday, Aug. 20, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) press release. Their identities have not been publicly revealed.

The two parents, both 23, went for a hike with their infant mid-morning on Aug. 20. Around 3:00 p.m., nine miles later, the family ran out of water, DPS said in its release on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Due to the high temperatures at the park throughout the day, they soon began experiencing signs of dehydration and heat exhaustion.

Then, at 4:15 p.m., park rangers alerted DPS, who then dispatched a Pilatus PC-12 airplane to search for the family. The aircrew promptly found the family, and DPS sent an Airbus H-125 helicopter to help in the rescue.
