Faith leaders organizing vigil after Tuscaloosa triple shooting, other violence [Video]

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) – Faith leaders in west Alabama plan to honor those dealing with the devastating effects of gun violence.

Members of the Ceasefire Campaign will hold a candlelight vigil for anyone who has lost a loved one or just wants to support those who have.

It will be happening on Monday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. at Kaulton Park.

“Too many mothers are crying. Too many people are sad,” said Pastor Ransey O’Daniel with Christ Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa and the Ceasefire Campaign. “It’s affecting the whole community, the whole Tuscaloosa area.”

The idea came about after a triple shooting last Wednesday on Beech Street.

18-year-old Keandre Simmons died after being shot, according to authorities.

The Ceasefire Campaign is a joint effort between Tuscaloosa Police and area churches to get people to put the guns down.
