FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – Looking ahead to the next 20 years, the Fairbanks North Star Borough is working to create a new comprehensive plan to shape economic development in the community.
Required by state law, a new comprehensive plan must be put together every 20 years. This plan is described as “a big-picture guide for the Borough for the next 20 years, covering things like housing, land use, economic development, and transportation,” by the Fairbanks North Star Borough.
It serves to shape policy, planning and development efforts for the future of the borough.
According to Borough Mayor Grier Hopkins, creating this plan is a two-year process and the first part of that is “releasing a community survey to ask people their opinions on it to make sure we get input,” Hopkins said.
