JEFFERSON CITY — Brightly-colored paintings, stunning photographs and hand-crafted sculptures were displayed Sunday in Jefferson City as part of an exhibition highlighting mid-Missouri artists.
The Mid-Missouri Arts Alliance hosted a reception for its “Heart From the Art” exhibition, which includes work from 18 local artists. The exhibition started Sept. 1 and will be on display at the Missouri River Regional Library until the end of November.
The Alliance is an Ashland-based nonprofit that promotes mid-Missouri art and artists. Sunday’s reception raised money for the group’s work, which includes art classes for adults and children. Each year, the Alliance offers a $1,000 scholarship for one Ashland high school senior studying art or visual design.
“We wanted to just make art more accessible to people in a small community,” Alliance President Janet Flett said.
