Executive order against Burlington’s police department sparks controversy [Video]

Burlington Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak wants to know exactly what the Burlington Police Department is saying publicly. Under a new executive order, any news release that the police department wants to send out to local media outlets like NBC5, needs to be approved by the mayor’s office. “This executive order is really a short measure for us to take the time to finish this work of a press release policy that is stronger,” Mulvaney-Stanak said. This comes after police Chief Jon Murad sent out a news release for the most recent arrest of a man named Michael Reynolds.
