Editor’s Note: Since the signing of the Rubber-Rice Pact in 1952 and the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1957, through to the elevation of the bilateral relations to a strategic cooperative partnership in 2013, China and Sri Lanka have always supported each other on issues involving core interests and major concerns. In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG’s He Yanke sat down with Sri Lanka’s President Anura Kumara Dissanayake who paid a state visit to China from January 14 to 17. Dissanayake takes the pulse of China’s impressive strides in leading innovation. “We are studying and learning from China’s development model,” he says. Dissanayake also explains Sri Lanka’s vision for Hambantota Port and Port City Colombo and talks about his plan to make his country a key economic hub.
