Evergy in pursuit for a 13.99% utility rate increase | Community [Video]

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Missouri Public Service Commission held a public hearing at St. Joseph’s City Hall last night to discuss a 13.99% rate increase for Evergy customers.

The Public Service Commission regulates investor-owned electric, natural gas, water and sewer companies. The commission ensues the public has access to safe, reliable and reasonably priced utility services.

Evergy Director, Corporate Communications Gina Penzig said, “We have asked the commission to raise rates for Evergy Missouri West customers, this is to recover investments made to make the grid more reliable and to add generation resources to serve those customers.”

The last rate increase was in 2022. But with the time-based rate plans citizens are not happy with their already high electric bills.
