A sandbox like EVE Echoes mostly relies on player alliances having a reason to butt heads or allowing smaller groups an opportunity to flourish or even just participate in gameplay, but as it turns out, players have instead taken advantage of the fact that they can create alliances with as many as 10,000 members, effectively overpowering other corps. That is going to change soon, as developer NetEase is planning on instituting restrictions.
Corp leaders will soon have to face increasingly high fees for sustaining alliances that contain more than five member corps and for adding multiple friendly alliances and corps via diplomacy at certain amounts. Players will also not be able to form an alliance unless their corp is at least level five, and once a new alliance is formed, another cannot be made until 180 days have passed.
