Evaluating the economic impact from US port strike if it persists [Video]

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Nationwide dock worker strikes continue to disrupt major ports, creating ripple effects across industries.

Some 45,000 dock workers at 36 US ports from Maine to Texas are on the picket line.

Right now, there’s a wide gap between the Workers Union’s dispute over wages and the use of automation and the contract offer from the US Maritime Alliance.

The short-term effects of the US port strike will likely be minimal, but if the strike is prolonged, the cost and availability of items will become more notable.

From the northeast to the Gulf Coast, US ports are shut down and the union representing about 45,000 dock workers has been fighting for improved benefits.
