A liberal news website fell for a fake statement from former President Trump that appeared to condemn the seizure and subsequent death of an Instagram-famous squirrel named Peanut.
The site was duped after a bizarre bogus press release adorned with the Trump campaign’s logo was posted on X.
The language appeared similar in tone to that used by Trump during his campaign perhaps making it all too easy for someone to mistakenly believe the words to be true.
The fake posting saw Trump lament how Peanut and Fred the Raccoon were removed from owner, Mark Longo, and ‘executed by the State of New York’ thanks to ‘their terrible governor,’ Democrat Kathy Hochul.
