GADSDEN, Ala. (WBRC) – Education and health leaders in Etowah County are coming together to make sure student athletes are OK when it comes to their mental health and dealing with the stresses of athletics and school.
Gadsden State Community College and others sponsored a Mental Health Conference. Etowah County School officials say they want to make sure students know there is help if they need it when it comes to handling the pressure of school and athletics.
Gadsden State officials say Friday was an opportunity to bring professionals, educators and first responders together, to discuss important strategies, share knowledge and create awareness around mental health challenges.
One of the big topics was dealing with sports and mental health. It’s something the NCAA has also been prioritizing over the past couple of years. Etowah County School officials say, it’s about lightening the load for students.
