Employers added jobs in May [Video]

Wethersfield, Conn./WTIC Radio – The unemployment rate in Connecticut dropped slightly in the month of May.

Numbers released Monday by the state Labor Department show employers added 4,700 jobs to their rolls last month.

Private sector jobs are at a high of about 1.4 million, said DOL Commissioner Danté Bartolomeo.

That’s up nearly 10-thousand positions from the previous peak in December of 2018.

Unemployment last month fell to 4.3-percent.

Seven in ten supersectors saw gains or were unchanged while three saw declines.
