A WOMAN who was killed by Irishman Edward Johnston in Malta last week was laid to rest this weekend with mourners told: “Why has Nicolette had to die unjustly?”
Nicolette Ghirxi was stabbed to death last Sunday night at her home by her former partner Dubliner Edward Johnston.
The Irishman, 50, was then shot dead by police officers after he pointed a gun, which cops later discovered was a replica, at them.
Nicolette was laid to rest at the Divine Mercy Sanctuary in Naxxar in Malta on Saturday morning.
The church was packed to the brim with relatives and friends, including her colleagues from HSBC bank who came to pay their respects.
Mourners burst into spontaneous applause when her coffin was raised and carried down the aisle at the end of the service.
