HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – Officials in the Upstate of South Carolina and western North Carolina are opening emergency shelters for residents impacted by severe weather from Hurricane Helene.
Below is a list of active emergency shelters:
Pickens City – Cheri Anthony Recreation Center at 545 Sangamo Road in Pickens, SC (opening at 5 p.m. for those in mobile homes and low-lying flood-prone areas)
Pickens County – Crosswell Baptist Church on S. Fishtrap Road. (Opening at 3 p.m.)
Henderson County – Athletics and Activities Center at 708 South Grove Street, Hendersonville, NC
McDowell County – Glenwood Baptist Church at 155 Glenwood Baptist Church Road, Marion, NC
Haywood County – Armory at 235 Armory Drive in Clyde, NC (Opening at 3 p.m.)
Buncombe County – First Baptist Church Swannanoa at 503 Park St. Swannanoa, NC 28778 (Opened now)
Buncombe County – Trinity Baptist Church at 216 Shelburn Rd. Asheville, NC 28806 (Opened now)
