Emergency operations hub in the works in Scranton [Video]

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The City of Scranton is looking to create a new city-based emergency operations center and training facility.

The proposed idea has been in the works for a little more than two years, and the city is looking at land owned by the Lackawanna Career Technology Center

“We’re going to be able to make some really timely decisions when we’re dealing with planned and unplanned events,” said Chief John Judge from the Scranton Fire Department.

Everything from responding to natural disasters to handling logistics events like the Saint Patrick’s Parade to planning when a political figure such as the president visits Scranton.
