HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WETM) — People congregated at Thorne Street Park for the Ferrario Elmira Jazz Festival in its 13th year.
The performances were held to help support the Economic Opportunity Program which assists residents in Chemung and Schuyler Counties. The program covers assistance for healthcare, food, housing, and children and youth services.
One of the attendees Alexis Knox said, “Me and my sister, we used to perform here, and we wanted to give back and it’s honestly just a great place to be. It just brings the community together, you just have great jazz artists performing.”
Another attendee, Lorna Llewellyn mentioned that she would like to see more young people attend the festival and more promotion to epxand the reach of the festival.
“This is a wonderful way of meeting other people, and many people who haven’t seen in quite a while and that’s what happened to me,” said Llewellyn.
