Effingham Co. voters weigh in on support for illegal migrants [Video]

EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WCIA) – The Effingham County Board passed a resolution in January saying they would not use local tax dollars to support illegal immigrants.

“We had citizens come forward and they were concerned about what we were going to do as a county, as a whole, if faced with an influx of immigrants,” Effingham County Board Chairman Josh Douthit said.

Now, community members are being asked to take a stance on the issue. It asks voters — with the potential exception of emergencies — should tax-based funding be spent to support illegal migrants in the county.
