CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington University (EWU) will unveil a special helmet decal featuring a Salish phrase during their game against Montana State in celebration of Native American Heritage Month.
EWU Athletics said that they have partnered with the Kalispel Tribe of Indians and Northern Quest Resort & Casino to introduce the decal for the football team’s game on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 1 p.m. The decal showcases the Salish phrase “uł pql̓qeyn,” which translates to “group of eagles.”
This initiative is part of the university’s celebration of Native American Heritage Month, with collaboration from the American Indian Studies Program and the Native American Student Association.
