duPont Manual student sends medical supplies to India with Louisville-based SOS | Education [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A duPont Manual High School is sending medical aid to India with the help of a Louisville nonprofit.

Prisha Hedau, a freshman, has been sending funding to an orphanage in her mother’s hometown in India for the past seven years. Hedau became SOS International’s first Global Student Ambassador and she’s launching a student-led initiative to help marginalized people in Nagpur, according to a news release.

SOS is a health equity nonprofit based in Louisville that supports communities around the world with resources.

Hedau visited her mother’s hometown in India when she was seven years old. Since then, she has raised and donated money every year for her birthday. She decided to expand her efforts by raising funding for a custom box of medical supplies.
