DUBLIN, Ga. — Tonight in Dublin, a woman is praying someone out there is a kidney match for her.
Jackie Curtis grew up in Laurens County and still lives there today. She’s a wife, mom, volunteer, and big advocate for children’s education through her job at Communities In Schools.
“Polycystic kidney disease is where your kidneys are covered in cysts. The doctors have said that my kidneys look like they have a lump of grapes laying on them,” Curtis said.
Since then, her condition has gotten worse and she’s lost more and more weight over the years. Right now, her kidney function is at 7%, something she says people wouldn’t ever guess.
“I’m on that path to needing dialysis. But definitely a kidney so you can’t look at people and tell what they’re going through. …
