Drivers eligible for parking refunds after glitch sees many wrongly get tickets – but there is condition for applicants [Video]

Drivers in the Canadian city of Hamilton, Ontario were wrongly issued parking tickets on July 17 after a technical issue caused a discrepancy between the third-party mobile app used for parking and driver payments.

The average cost of a parking ticket in the city is $45.

After several complaints from drivers, the city issued a statement promising a refund to those ticketed during the “hiccup.”

They said the issue caused parking not to be enforced, and therefore, a ticket earned during that time is illegitimate.
