Dragon boating festival to raise money for Gulf Coast Kids House, Escambia County Public Schools Foundation [Video]

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — Boating will soon help to raise money for charity as NE Pensacola SERTOMA prepares to host the 10th Annual Dragon Boat Festival.

According to a press release, the racing event is scheduled to happen on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Bayou Texar (which is located just off Bayview Park near Downtown Pensacola).

The main highlight of the event is a dragon boating race. Dragon boating is a water activity where “dragon boaters typically paddle in sync along a 250m or 500m racecourse toward the finish line,” according to the event FAQs.

Organizers said up to 40 teams of 20 people can compete in the race at the event. Teams who wish to register can sign up at the Pensacola Dragon Boat Festival’s website. Registration costs $2,500 for corporate teams and $1,500 for non-profit teams.
