Dozens help at Eugene church to send school supplies to refugee children | News [Video]

Dozens of volunteers got together Sunday morning to pack school supplies to be sent to kids in refugee camps in places like Ukraine and Sudan.

EUGENE, Ore. — Dozens of people gathered at the Eugene Mennonite Church to help build school supply kits to be sent to children in refugee camps around the world. 

The goal was to send out at least a thousand school supply kits. The kits include school supplies such as pencils, rulers and notepads. The supply effort has been around since 2006, and supplies have been sent to countries like Sudan and Ukraine. Helping lead the operation is Becky Schenck, a member of both the Mennonite Church and Refugee Resettlement Coalition of Lane County. The organizations work with the Mennonite Central Committee to send the supplies abroad.
