BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. – Federal grants totaling $4 million will help boost disaster recovery and preparedness projects.
There are four disaster relief projects being funded by the grants in Butte County and there are two projects for Shasta County. One of the projects is the Butte County Emergency Operations Planning Project. This project is about updating the Emergency Operations Plan to enhance disaster preparedness and response.
Congressman Doug LaMalfa told Action News Now that this will improve local emergency management strategies.
“You’ve seen with the fire evacuations or like even with the Oroville Dam Spillway evacuation there, a lot of things happened at the last minute and so preparedness helps those things go along much smoother,” LaMalfa said.
