British Chancellor Rachel Reeves met with Minister for Finance Jack Chambers and Minister for Public Expenditure Paschal Donohoe at her first Eurogroup meeting on Monday.
The meeting, chaired by Donohoe in his role as Eurogroup president, was the first time a British Chancellor has attended a meeting of EU finance ministers since the UK left the EU in 2020.
Reeves attended the international dialogue item, focusing on the global economic outlook and shared challenges, and said she hoped her attendance was a signal of the UK government’s commitment to “resetting” EU-UK relations.
Donohoe described the meeting as “very important” as he extended the Eurogroup’s thanks to Chancellor Reeves for attending what he described as a “very positive and very worthwhile dialogue.”
