Dolly Parton has done it again, folks!
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, the country icon dug into her own bank account to contribute to the widespread relief efforts. “From myself personally, just from my own bank account, I’m donating a million dollars today,” she announced on Friday, October 4, during a press conference at a Walmart in Newport, Tennessee.
The “Jolene” singer—an Appalachia native—teamed up with Walmart to support the cause. At the event, Walmart U.S. CEO John Furner revealed that the company, including Sam’s Club and the Walmart Foundation, is committing $10 million to relief efforts in Georgia, Florida, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee.
But that’s not all, Dolly is also donating another $1 million to the cause via her other businesses, Dollywood Parks & Resorts, Dolly Parton’s Stampede, and Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show, as well as The Dollywood Foundation.
