A survey of 2,000 adults has unveiled some of the more unusual tactics gardeners employ to boost their plant growth, including tossing used teabags onto the soil.
Creating beer traps for slugs, using fireplace ash as a fertiliser, and watering plants with potato water were also mentioned as unique gardening hacks.
The typical gardener devotes three hours a week to their outdoor space, with TV shows, social media, and gaming being major sources of inspiration.
