Michael Chernus will play the title role in Peacock’s Devil In Disguise: John Wayne Gacy, the streaming service’s upcoming limited drama series about the notorious serial killer who murdered 33 boys and young men in the 1970s.
“I am both excited and humbled by this opportunity,” said Chernus, a versatile actor known for roles in Severance and Dead Ringers, in a press release. “While Gacy was the perpetrator of these horrific crimes, I’m relieved that he won’t be the main focus of the series. ”
Patrick Macmanus (Dr. Death, The Girl From Plainville) serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the scripted project that concentrates on the exacting investigation that ultimately brought Gacy down. The series is inspired by the 2021 Peacock docuseries produced by NBC News Studios: John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise.
