KAHUKU, Hawai’i (Island News) — Planned construction of new residential units on O’ahu’s north shore is drawing mixed reaction from residents and business owners.
Utah-based developing firm Arete Collective, purchased 65-acres of land next to Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuku in April.
Construction is underway for the first phase of the project to build four low-rise buildings, with 20 residences.
But many want the undeveloped coastline in the area to stay that way.
“When is enough enough?” said Kahuku resident Jessica Dos Santos. “There are many community concerns that are not being addressed and it feels rushed without enough community input.”
